ROSEAU - Law enforcement officials here have admitted that a gun amnesty launched in Dominica a few years ago has failed. The gun amnesty, which was spearheaded by the Government of Dominica, was geared towards persons with illegal firearms. They were asked to bring these firearms to the police and would not face any charges; however, according to reports, only two persons took advantage of that. Dominica Man Jailed for Smuggling Guns from US to Virgin Islands

HOUSTON — A man with ties to the Caribbean has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for sending guns bought in Texas to the U.S. Virgin Islands. A federal judge in Houston on Wednesday sentenced 22-year-old Tyrone Reid. Investigators say Reid is a citizen of Dominica who's been living in Houston.
