An armed burglary went wrong at Raviz Indian restaurant in the early hours of Wednesday morning and is now being treated as attempted murder.
Police said yesterday that three employees were in the Avarua restaurant around 2.30am when two offenders — one carrying a lump of wood and the other a 12-gauge shotgun — attempted to rip the cash register from the restaurant bar.
Police Commissioner Pat Tasker said the offenders were disturbed by the three employees.

Cook Islands police holding a former Aucklander who shot three locals on the remote atoll of Pukapuka in the northern Cooks have not disclosed his motives.
The man, 19, sent out to Rarotonga as a teenager, shot Niua school principal Bob Tearetoa, his wife Ngatere Tearetoa, both from the Aitutaki community, and another man, Kiriti Mataora, Radio Niu FM reported.
