13 March 2009

Associated Press

Deputy Commissioner Michael DeSilva says he supports the idea. He says Bermuda is "not the Wild West and we can't start arming ourselves to the teeth." In Wake of Fatal Shootout, Bermudans Fear Retaliatory Gun Battles

26 July 2006

Royal Gazette (Bermuda)

Guns have been around for years in Bermuda but Monday's fatal shooting has sparked fears it could trigger retaliatory gun battles. Sunday's murder was the third serious unsolved gun incident in the last three months. In April two men and a woman were shot by a gunman who entered Swinging Doors nightclub on Court Street and opened fire. No one had been charged over the incident. 17 November 2003

Royal Gazette (Bermuda)

The mother of Bermuda's last shooting victim believes the Government's gun amnesty will only work if it is immediately followed by stiffer sentences for firearms offences. Mr. Burgess said there was a belief in the community that there were a large number of firearms on the Island. And he cited a recent incident where Police chased a man brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. Mr. Burgess was not deterred by a poor response... (GunPolicy.org)
