Detroit Police Chief Suggests Residents Get Guns Despite Study Showing Risk

DETROIT - The police chief of Detroit, a city plagued by gun violence, recently suggested that crime could decrease if more residents armed themselves.
Fox News reports Chief James Craig made his controversial comments at a Thursday press conference at which he touted a 14 percent reduction in homicides last year. Craig said his views on gun control changed during his tenure as police chief of Portland, Maine.

The government is likely to seek lower age restrictions on using air guns, to enable athletes to begin training earlier for shooting events at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, sources said.
