WASHINGTON - Two guns used in high-profile shootings this year at the Pentagon and a Las Vegas courthouse both came from the same unlikely place: the police and court system of Memphis, Tenn.
Law enforcement officials told The Associated Press that both guns were once seized in criminal cases in Memphis. The officials described how the weapons made their separate ways from an evidence vault to gun dealers and to the shooters.

More than 20 guns seized by a state-run firearms task force in Prince George's County are unaccounted for, and investigators believe that one of the weapons was used in the shooting of an off-duty police officer late last year, according to law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation.

MOBILE, Alabama - Information missing from a state crime database is allowing some people to buy guns in Alabama when the purchases should be barred.
The Press-Register of Mobile reported Sunday that a database at the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center has 2.7 million arrest records that don't reflect case outcomes.
