LAS VEGAS — An armed AirTran Airways pilot was charged with operating an aircraft under the influence after a federal screener at McCarran International Airport smelled alcohol, authorities said Thursday. The views of the public will be sought by the National Guns Control Committee during the public awareness campaign involving the illegal use of firearms. BRASILIA — The United Nations and Brazil are studying ways to collect the hundreds of thousands of illegal arms among Haitian citizens, Brazilian officials said Friday.
