Hundreds of mothers are to march through Leeds at the weekend to protest at gun crime. The Mothers Against Violence group is being headed by mum Pat Regan, whose son Danny, 26, was blasted to death by three bullets. Boston Herald

Boston's homicide rate has nearly doubled compared to this time last year, an alarming spike that comes as gunplay in the city has exploded by 100 percent, a law enforcement source told the Herald. "Out of sight," is how one cop described the Hub's grim reality. The source said skyrocketing shootings — including victims and simply shots fired — were posted at a gang intelligence meeting Tuesday. Jordan has given automatic rifles, machine guns and ammunition and 150 armored personnel carriers (APCs) to the new Iraqi Army, and is considering a request from Baghdad to donate 50 tanks, according to Jordanian official sources.
