PITTSBURGH — A man whose son was killed in the Columbine High School shootings literally walked in his child's shoes to the National Rifle Association convention, where he hoped Vice President Dick Cheney would address the federal assault weapons ban set to expire in September. Tom Mauser, whose son Daniel was killed with an assault weapon in the Littleton, Colo., killings five years ago Tuesday, said continuing the ban is common sense. Assault weapons "are the... LITTLETON, Colorado — Sean Graves knows exactly how he will mark the fifth anniversary of the Columbine High massacre: He will rise early, slip out of the home he shares with his mother and brother, and head to the school before the crowds. He will find the spot where he was shot four times and paralyzed from the waist down by Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. But the anti-gun advocate has agreed to take on John Lott, one of the country's premier gun experts, in a Duquesne University debate next week on the costs and benefits of firearms. Glosser is president of the Rosenberg Institute for Peace and Justice and volunteer executive director of Pennsylvanians Against Handgun Violence. Lott, whose op-ed... (GunPolicy.org)

PHILADELPHIA — A civil lawsuit filed against a South Williamsport gun shop could be the first to go to court that would hold gun dealers accountable when criminals get their hands on guns, lawyers say. In April 1999, 7-year-old Nafis Jefferson was fatally shot by another 7-year-old with a revolver they had found under an abandoned car in South Philadelphia. Police never determined who put the gun under the car, but they learned it came from a gun shop in South... (GunPolicy.org)
