What gun manufacturers failed to win in Georgia state court might now be possible thanks to a loss in superior court. Several law professors and a plaintiff's lawyer working with the city of Atlanta say the gun makers might get an appellate review of the city's suit because of an unfavorable ruling issued last week. Last year, the gun makers asked Fulton State Court Judge M. Gino Brogdon to throw out the city's suit, saying a 1999 state law prohibited cities from... (GunPolicy.org)

OTTAWA — Families of women killed at Montreal's Ecole Polytechnique in 1989 yesterday asked the Supreme Court of Canada to ignore the Alberta government's request to strike down the federal gun control law. The universal gun registry created by the 1995 Firearms Act was a necessary response to the "catalytic event" of the Montreal Massacre in which 14 women were murdered, their lawyer argued. Brady, founder of Handgun Control Inc., and LaPierre, top staff official of the National Rifle Association, will highlight a March 6 news conference officially launching Colorado Project Exile, a strategy to reduce gun... In a couple of months, it will be a year since two enraged teenage boys in Littleton, Colo., raced through Columbine High School to gun to death 12 students, a teacher and then themselves in a 16-minute rampage. But Columbine does not yet matter. Two individuals could not have killed so many people so fast, nearly one a minute, without a very efficient, artificial means such as a bomb or gun. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris had both, but with their bombs poorly... (GunPolicy.org)

CONCORD, New Hampshire — New Hampshire should give gun manufacturers and dealers immunity from frivolous lawsuits, gun owners are telling lawmakers. They told the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday that communities in other states are suing manufacturers to make them responsible for crimes committed with their products. New Hampshire should bar such lawsuits, which could bankrupt the manufacturers and dealers, they said. "This bill supports our constitutional... (GunPolicy.org)
