A judge's order to require new ballot language for the April 6 concealed guns referendum is only a small victory for opponents of this scheme to increase the number of guns in Missouri.
Cole County Circuit Judge Tom Brown ordered the Missouri secretary of state's office to write new language for the ballot measure. His ruling came after concealed weapons opponents contended that the measure's wording, written by the General Assembly, was unclear.

Jim Brady to Greet Pope - While Urging Defeat of Missouri Gun Measure

ST. LOUIS — Like Pope John Paul II, Jim Brady survived an assailant's bullet.
The pope and the one-time presidential press secretary are to meet on Tuesday, when Brady joins President Clinton's entourage in welcoming the pontiff to St. Louis.
Brady came to town early to campaign against a state ballot measure that would legalize the carrying of concealed guns.

More US Cities Expected to Sue Gun Manufacturers

NEW YORK — Moves to hold the gun industry liable for shooting violence were expected to intensify this week as several more cities planned to file lawsuits against manufacturers and a group of mayors was due to announce its legal strategy.
Officials in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and Miami said they would file lawsuits against the industry Tuesday. Their cases would follow those previously filed by Chicago and New Orleans.
