The Medical College of Wisconsin's Firearm Injury Center has much to celebrate as it completes its first year of operation with a wide-ranging conference on the current state of firearm injury treatment and prevention Dec. 10 and 11 in Milwaukee. Organized in 1997 with a grant from the Joyce Foundation, the Center has dedicated itself to the reduction of firearm injuries and deaths by studying firearm morbidity and mortality and providing reports and analyses of their... As the gun industry faces an extraordinary legal attack by cities around the country, recent history suggests that it might be time to circle the wagons. Threatened with a similar volley of lawsuits by states, tobacco companies for the most part banded together.
