NEWPORT, Virginia — A former Norfolk judge, convicted in 2000 of pistol-whipping a state delegate, was arrested at the Newport News courthouse Wednesday when he tried to carry a gun into the building. Luther C. Edmonds, 60, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He's being held at the Newport News Jail without bail. His arraignment is scheduled for today.
