Last week's police standoff with 71-year-old Isidore Havis of Montreal may look like a one-off incident, but its ramifications stand poised to echo through the years.
Havis, 71, the owner of an estimated 180 guns, fired a handgun at police during the tense, 20-hour confrontation. He will likely be charged with uttering threats, as well as firearms offences.
