A University of California-Davis professor who studied stray-bullet shootings across the country found that most harm women, young children, older adults and individuals who are at low-risk for violence. The study, which will be published as a letter in tomorrow's issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, identified 284 stray-bullet shootings in a one-year period between 2008 and 2009, in which 317 people were killed or injured.
