Sharp Drop in Philippine Gun Crime: Police Call for Hidden Handgun Ban

MANILA, Philippines — Citing a dip in crime incidents during the election gun ban period, the Philippine National Police on Wednesday renewed its call to prohibit the carrying of firearms amid opposition from pro-gun groups.
The proposed permanent gun ban involves limiting the issuances of permits to carry guns outside of residence (PTCFOR) as well as strict screening of applicants for PTCFORs.
