One by one, they rose up as threats to be eliminated. One by one, they were shot down with the speed and skill of a sniper.
The menace was not international terrorists, local murderers, a deranged milkman in Amish country, or even rabid animals.
The danger that some perceived over the last two weeks were the most reasonable of gun-law ideas — and the firing squad was made up of Pennsylvania legislators.
