Supporters of the federal firearms registry have pointed to the tragic deaths of two RCMP officers in Saskatchewan as evidence of the need of the registry. That's a bit of a stretch. It's true that Constables Robin Cameron and Marc Bourdages were shot in the head by long guns, but whether a well-established long-gun registry could have stopped that event is questionable.
