A federal jury found a former Shelby police officer guilty on several firearms violations Thursday, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District Office of North Carolina. Prosecutors say Michael Lee Drake operated two pawn shops in Shelby and knowingly provided an AK-47 rifle and ammunition to a person under indictment.
