RIO DE JANEIRO — Voters overwhelmingly rejected a measure to ban gun sales in Brazil, which has one of the world's highest murder rates. With 74 percent of the electronic ballots counted, election officials said that about 65 percent voted no and 35 percent yes. Opinion polls had indicated most would vote against the ban.
