Court Shootout With Gun Dealer Over 2000 Pistols

The Australian Customs Service has resorted to the High Court in a four-year-battle to keep 2000 semi-automatic pistols out of the hands of controversial Queensland gun dealer Ron Owen.
Mr Owen, a right-wing activist and strident critic of the national gun laws introduced in the wake of the Port Arthur massacre, has defeated Customs twice in attempts the agency made in the Federal Court to have the Chinese-made handguns declared forfeited to the Crown.
