With its settlement Friday, gunmaker Smith & Wesson won more than plaudits for agreeing to install "smart" technology on its guns and to abide by a code of conduct. It won more gun sales. The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development, along with three cities, already have agreed to give preference to Smith & Wesson products when buying guns. But whether those quick accolades will be followed by a real reduction in the 30,000-plus lives lost each year to guns... (GunPolicy.org)
