Le Cameroun, à l'instar des autres pays de la sous-région d'Afrique centrale, rencontre des difficultés dans la mise en œuvre du programme d'action des Nations Unies sur le commerce illicite des armes légères sous tous ses aspects. Parmi ces difficultés, on peut citer:

- la porosité des frontières qui favorise grandement l'introduction clandestine des armes à l'intérieur du territoire national;

- le manque d'équipement appropriés de détection et de personnel formé pour la manipulations de ces équipements;

- le manque d'informations et de données exactes sur la nature et la quantité d'armes en circulation illicite surtout celle ne faisant pas partie des stocks des forces de sécurité;

- l'absence de statistiques appropriées sur les armes à feu de fabrication artisanale.

Difficulties

Cameroon, like other countries of the Central Africa sub-region, is experiencing difficulties in the implementation of the United Nations Programme of Action on the Illicit Trade of Small Arms in all its Aspects. Among these difficulties, we can include:

- the porosity of borders which greatly facilitates the smuggling of weapons into the country;

- the lack of adequate equipment for detection, and of personnel trained to handle such equipment;

- the lack of information and precise data on the nature and quantity of firearms in illicit circulation, especially those which are not part of the stockpiles of the Security Forces;

- the lack of adequate statistics on homemade firearms.
