By the end of October 2003, over 3,700 firearms, including 659 military-style weapons had been recovered.
RAMSI's Special Coordinator noted that the removal of weapons from the community had an immediate positive effect. Fear subsided and people went about their lives unimpeded. All public servants, community representatives and general public interviewed in Honiara, Guadalcanal, Malaita and Munda confirmed this.
