The export of military goods, including small arms and light weapons, is governed by the Control of Exports Act 2008 which entered into force on 5 May 2008 and which replaced the Control of Exports Act 1983. The 2008 Act has introduced controls on brokering and technical activities, on goods in transit and on intangible transfers.
