Achievements made in the Implementation of the Programme of Action

As part of the action taken with a view to achievement of the objective of the Programme of Action, the Government of Mexico has conducted joint operations involving the three levels of government authorities in order to combat and eradicate the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons in all its aspects, through consistent application of the Federal Firearms and Explosives Act. The following results have been achieved:

Weapons seized:
15,330 firearms
771,281 cartridges
745 grenades

Weapons exchange:
9,524 firearms
87,567 cartridges

A total of 28,302 weapons, 762,966 cartridges and 11,847 cartridge clips were destroyed.
