Russia Refuses to Sign 'Unbalanced Arms Trade Treaty

Russia did not sign an international treaty on arms trade because of its unbalanced nature and superficial description of a number of issues, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Wednesday.
"Recently, new tools emerged in the global arms trade, in particular, the Arms Trade Treaty, which came into force last December. We did not sign this document and see no reason to move in this direction," Ryabkov said.

Police Raid Gun Owner Homes in Melbourne Licensing Blitz

ESSENDON - Sixteen firearms were seized after a crackdown on expired licences in Melbourne's northwest.
Police, including members of the operations response unit, swooped on unlicensed firearm owners in Moonee Valley, Hume and Moreland over the August 29-30 weekend. Acting Inspector Anthony Brown said it was about ensuring people were complying with their obligations under the Firearms Act.
