An armed fugitive who tried to shoot policemen as he was arrested in Bani Jamra has confessed to being part of a gang that smuggled guns into Bahrain. Redha Abdulla Isa reportedly admitted bringing a "large number" of automatic weapons and pistols that were used to attack police, as he appeared at the Public Prosecution yesterday. The Süddeutsche reported that approved German small arms exports hit €76.15 million in 2012, compared to €37.9 million in 2011. The second-highest figure dates back in 2009. ISTANBUL - Turkish custom agents knew exactly what they were looking for when they searched the Libyan-flagged fishing vessel. An anonymous tip-off has led to the seizure of a massive cache of guns and ammunition, including a Chinese assault rifle and a laser-sighted Magnum handgun, in Western Australia.
