A veteran employee of the Los Angeles Police Academy's privately run gun store was caught in a sting operation involving an illegally purchased gun, authorities said. John David Huey, 48, was taken into custody Thursday in a park near the Police Academy. He was arrested for investigation of an illegal firearms transaction and freed after posting $45,000 bail, police said.
