Owner Closes Gun Shop Over Proposed Ordinance
24 December 2000
Daily Herald (Chicago)
Customers paid their final visit to B&L Rod & Gun shop on Elgin's west side Saturday after 30 years of business with local hunters, fishermen and Boy Scouts.
As they checked out, customers wished the store's proprietor, William Whistle, the best of luck as he begins a premature retirement. Whistle took ownership of the store in 1985.
"I was not planning on being railroaded out so fast," Whistle said.
Whistle's decision to leave stems from a proposed city ordinance... (GunPolicy.org)
