Tom Mauser of Littleton, Colo., was only slightly curious one day early last April when his 15-year-old son, Daniel, returned home from school at Columbine High School with a passing comment about the Brady Bill.
"He said to me, 'Do you know there are holes in the Brady Bill?'," Mauser recalled recently.
Their discussion was brief at best, the father recalls. He didn't even ask his son where he'd gotten the information. But two weeks later, after his son and 12 other... (GunPolicy.org)

10 January 2000
Salt Lake Tribune (Utah)

Rep. Bill Wright, R-Elberta, would alter that privilege through a bill he is drafting for the 2000 Legislature, which begins Jan. 17.

Now, nine months later, Owens has come out in support of gun-control measures.
And despite some opposition from Owens' party, which controls... (GunPolicy.org)

DENVER — The father of a student killed last year at Columbine High School urged state lawmakers on Monday to pass stricter gun laws, and in a poignant moment rang a bell on the steps of the capitol in memory of victims of gun violence.
Tom Mauser, whose son, Daniel, was killed in the school shooting rampage last year, urged about 500 people at a lunchtime rally to lobby legislators to pass laws requiring background checks at gun shows and raising the minimum age to... (GunPolicy.org)
Felons Are Being Approved for Hunting Licenses
10 January 2000
Associated Press
ST. PAUL — Hundreds of convicted criminals are getting hunting licenses even though the law forbids them from carrying handguns, rifles or shotguns, the Saint Paul Pioneer Press reported.
Among the 236 convicted felons issued special hunting permits last fall are rapists, a murderer and others convicted of violent crimes such as aggravated assault, stalking, armed robbery and possessing a machine gun, the newspaper said Sunday.
The problem could be more severe since... (GunPolicy.org)
