Up to one million illegal and unregistered firearms could still be hidden in Victorian homes despite the guns buy back scheme and a new amnesty. Murders by firearms have actually increased since the buyback scheme which removed 225,000 registered and unregistered firearms from circulation. CHICAGO — Laws barring felons from buying guns should be expanded to ban prospective buyers who have committed misdemeanors, according to a study published today in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
