HAMILTON — The mother of Raurimu gunman Stephen Anderson gave an emotional apology to the families of the six people killed by her son in February last year.
Helen Anderson, of Wellington, was giving evidence yesterday at the inquest into the deaths of the six people at Raurimu, a settlement south of Taumarunui. Gunfire incidents in Japan in the first six months of this year nearly doubled from the year-earlier figure while the number of victims killed and injured also rose, according to a survey released Thursday by the National Police Agency.
Eighty-one cases of gunfire were seen between January and June, up from 43 during the same period last year, resulting in 10 deaths, up from nine, and 21 injuries, up from seven, the survey... (GunPolicy.org)
