OTTAWA — Gun owners scrambling to meet the Dec. 31 deadline to register their firearms can now simply submit a letter of intention by that date, Justice Minister Martin Cauchon announced Friday. Due to the "high volume of calls" and e-mails to the Canadian Firearms Centre, the federal Department of Justice announced "additional steps" would be taken to allow Canadians to meet the deadline.
