FAIRBANKS — The cost of repairing the trans-Alaska pipeline and cleaning up a 286,000-gaIlon oil spill caused by a bullet hole has risen to $20 million (£14 million pounds), the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company said. Daniel Carson Lewis, who allegedly caused the hole in the pipeline north of Fairbanks by firing at it with a rifle, will stand trial in September. The clean-up is almost complete, officials say.
