One of the oldest magazines in the country, 115 year old Sports Afield, has become the latest victim of the publishing meltdown. Publishing magnate Robert E. Pete Petersen — who had bought the troubled magazine only two years ago from Hearst in a bid to save it — yesterday decided to pull the plug after the June 2002 issue.
