The prices of weapons were cheap in the early 1990s for rebels in Myanmar and for various other groups fighting against their respective governments within the region. The cheap prices were mainly because of the end of years of conflict in Cambodia, which released to the regional market a huge amount of surplus and illegal weapons made in the United States, China and Russia.
