People Given Suspended Sentence in UK May Be Refused Gun Licence

People given suspended prison sentences might be refused a firearms licence following a report in the wake of the Derrick Bird shootings, the Home Office has said.
Bird, 52, shot dead 12 people and seriously injured 11 others after going on a rampage in west Cumbria on June 2, 2010. He then turned the gun on himself.
Last December, the Home Affairs Select Committee made a series of recommendations, saying current gun law was "a mess".
