MAPUTO — A Mozambican police sergeant in the central city of Chimoio was arrested on Friday and charged with hiring out police guns and uniforms to a gang of ten criminals who carried out armed robberies in Chimoio and in the districts of Barue, Guro and Gondola. The sergeant is Manuel Tinga, who has been in the police force for about 17 years.
