Gun control is once again under public scrutiny following the tragic shooting death of Lower Hutt teacher Rosemary Ives.
While the matter is before the courts, and a 25-year-old Hamilton faces a weapon charge next month, it appears her death was a disastrous case of mistaken identity.
Ms Ives, also 25, could not have been more of an innocent victim as she was brushing her teeth and standing next to her partner, Adam Hyndman, when she was hit on Friday night.
