A police officer attached to the Witness Protection Programme lost a sub-machine gun in a weekend incident that investigators were still trying to unravel yesterday. The gun and ammunition were found buried in Barrackpore yesterday and six people were arrested. The police corporal had, at first, said he was robbed of the weapon in San Fernando, just before midnight last Saturday.
