Canadian Gun Registry a Valuable Policing Tool, Says Coalition of Groups

With Kingston officials leading the charge, a coalition of groups battling government plans to axe the gun registry have come out firing.
They claim the registry has helped catch killers, prevent mass murders and foil the plans of disturbed citizens.
"To eliminate it at this point in time, we think represents a huge risk to public safety as well as to the safety of our officers," Carol Allison-Burra said, at a news conference Thursday in Ottawa.
