SPRINGFIELD – Smith & Wesson announced strong sales Thursday to police and civilian consumers and it remains hopeful of landing $500 million in firearm orders from the Army, Air Force and Special Forces Command. Michael F. Golden, Smith & Wesson president and chief executive officer, said he expects the Pentagon to put those contracts out sometime in 2010.
