There are more than a million guns in New Zealand and it is too late to try to find all the unregistered weapons, an MP said yesterday. Chester Borrows, MP for Wanganui and a former police officer, said that for many years shotguns did not have to be registered. "You can do an operation in a small town and locate several sawn off shotguns or firearms in the period of a week or two, and find that none of them are registered," he said on TV One's Q&A programme.
