Papua New Guinea's police minister Sani Rambi says 60 per cent of crimes committed in PNG involve small arms and light weapons. The National newspaper quotes Mr Rambi as saying the government needs to create incentives for people to voluntarily hand in their weapons. He says tougher legislation is needed to control their use and removal from communities.
