Weapons smugglers are mailing at least 10 guns and firearms components into the country every month as buyers try to beat Australia's stringent gun laws. The guns, which are mainly privately addressed, are being exported from manufacturers and dealers in the US, UK, China, Sweden and the former Soviet Union.
