Daily Nation (Nairobi)
The recent spate of violence in Laikipia District could be attributed to the proliferation of illegal arms in the region.
Laikipia is bordered by Baringo and Samburu districts, which are thought to have up to 25,000 small arms being held illegally.
In a book titled Terrorised Citizens by a retired Air Force officer and two university dons, Samburu is suspected to have 16,000 guns in the wrong hands with Baringo having about 7,000.
