Not surprisingly, the wave of sniper shooting deaths in Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland has revived proposals for further gun control laws. The issue had all but vanished since the 2000 election, in which some vocal advocates of gun laws were defeated at the polls. So far there is no widespread call for new legislation. Perhaps that partly reflects the prime current objective: catching the killer (or killers); in part it may also reflect the public realization... (GunPolicy.org)
