Michigan Police Chief, Prosecutor Guilty of Illegal Machine Gun Possession

DETROIT — In their jobs as a small-town police chief and rural county prosecutors, Maxwell L. Garnett, Frederick A. MacKinnon and Gary J. Theunick were charged to uphold the law in Ogemaw County.
But a federal jury has found the three former officials guilty of using their positions of authority to buy and own machine guns and gun silencers for personal use.
