The number of crimes involving firearms has almost halved in New South Wales in the past 10 years, a report has found. The Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research report, released today, found that crimes involving firearms have fallen by 44 per cent since 1997. In examining trends in firearms and violent crime across the state between 1995 and 2005, it showed firearm-related murders had decreased from 23 in 2001 to 15 last year.
