Firearms provided by the Australian Government to police and military forces in Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands are used in most gun-related crimes in those countries. Sydney University associate professor Philip Alpers said his research implicated Australian firearms in almost all shooting murders in PNG's troubled Southern Highlands province.
